What is this unit/Dept about?

Caring for intellectually disabled female patients presenting with behavioral problems and syndromes. Patient ages range from 18 to 60 years.

What are its specialized services (what does the unit offer)?

Rendering care to the intellectually disadvantaged by helping them with activities of daily living and providing them with medication and other services as determined by the MPT.

What is the disease profile of your Unit?

Epilepsy = 58

How does one get access to the unit (through grooming or straight)?

Straight

Could you please explain the steps followed to access the services?

Patients are brought in through the Department of social development, and also through family members applying directly in Witrand Hospital where the patient will be assessed by the MPT.

When the MPT has made its recommendation the patient is put on the waiting list. When the bed space becomes available then the list is followed in the sequence it was made.

Put your utmost best in rendering care to all patients with the available resources. Inform the community with services available and understanding the conditions of the patients.
